Ensnared in this cage,
My wings clipped.
Leashed by threats
By my fear,
By my uncertainty.
I want to spring free.
I want to dream free.
I have faith in the secret I keep.
My flight feathers grow back slowly but surely.
They give a flutter of hope in my heart.
But then the pain
and the fears come back
I can not give in
So I nurture what little optimism I have.
Letting it grow until it blooms with warmth
and strength in my chest.
I finally burst free from my cage,
From my fear
I now fly free.

"I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her." ~ Ellen DeGeneres
